PROPERTIES:
It is an alloy of iron and chromium, and may also contain nickel, molybdenum and other elements, with its high resistance to atmospheric oxidation being its main characteristic. The most common types are:

- Martensitics (Family 420): They can be quenched with high levels of hardness and mechanical resistance. They are magnetic, not very weldable, and have low resistance to corrosion.

- Austenitics (Family 301, 304, 304L, 306 and 306L): They have high ductility and weldability and are the most used type of stainless steel because they have better resistance to corrosion. They are non-magnetic and can be used for work at very low temperatures (less than 0°C) or very high temperatures (up to 925°C).
