The molecular formula of cubic boron nitride is BN. Its atomic structure is similar to that of the carbon atoms in diamond. Therefore, it has high density characteristics, the hardness is slightly lower than that of diamond, and its hardness is second only to diamond but much higher than other materials. Therefore, it is often used as an abrasive and tool material along with diamond as a super abrasive material.
